Training Courses

MCL is a rope access company that was formed in 2008, primarily to provide working at height solutions and training. Many years have passed and experience gained to widen the breadth of not only training in London and Lincolnshire, but also rope access services that MCL-UK can now offer to its clients.

Martin Castle

Company Director

Martin Castle has been working in the rope access industry for nearly 20 years. When Martin set up MCL-UK in 2008, the company was primarily offering IRATA Training. IRATA Rope Access Training has always been a key part of the business and the scope of training has expanded to address the demand in other areas closely related to Industrial Rope Access. In parallel to this development, Martin has branched out to offer a range of consultancy and rope access services. As these areas have grown, so has our team. Martin oversees all activity within the business whilst remaining an active part of the training team. Martin is also an IRATA assessor. Climbing also plays a large part in Martin’s spare time, as well as caving and trekking.
Jesper Eriksen

Jesper Eriksen

Training Manager

Jesper joined MCL-UK in 2019 as an IRATA level 3 trainer and since January 2020 has been the lead trainer on the IRATA framework. He acquired his full IRATA trainer status in May 2018. Jesper first became involved in rope access in the early 1990s whilst performing high rise building window cleaning in South Africa. He has a background in caving and climbing, and when not training, he likes to pursue new waters for fly fishing. Originally born in Denmark, Jesper has spent most of his life in South Africa, and has settled in the UK since 2019.

Great instructor - appreciated discussing real life examples and doing practicals that are applicable to our industry

5 stars all round

GWO BST Refresher

Took the one day Working at Height course this week (October 2023) with some colleagues from Arup. Pete was a great trainer - full of deep technical knowledge as well as years of practical experience. I have to do a Working at Height course every three years and they are usually dull, but I really enjoyed this one and the practical training was brilliant.

Working At Heights

Training was great. I give 5 out of 5 for the work at height, manual handling, sea survival, fire awareness and first aid modules.

GWO Basic Safety Training

Learning a new skill which is vital in my career path with an instructor that has been extremely helpful and attentive.

Martin was thorough & exact in his explanations of things. Hollie was excellent at explaining things & provided good support during the course.

I’m new to rope access with no experience. Within 1 week I have gained so much knowledge and have passed my Level 1!

The instructors (Lloyd & Kate) were awesome. Funny, approachable and if you have any questions they will answer them.

If you want to gain your IRATA, then I highly recommend MCL. Will be coming back to do my level 2 ASAP

IRATA Level 1

Trainers have been amazing, patient, informative knowledgeable. Learnt so much and enjoyed.

Instructors were very helpful, clear and attentive! Hollie was super chilled and up for a laugh which made learning fun and easy.

Great ratio. Friendly teaching. Interesting points of knowledge.

I really enjoyed the training. Instructors are friendly. Clearly explained everything.

I can't really imagine how a course could be better run. Lloyd, Kate and Claudia were all founts of knowledge on and off the ropes. I learnt a ton about rope access, as well as other topics discussed over the week. My only downside is that I can't come back on Monday for more! Seriously, thank you so much you guys are the best. I hope I get to see you again in the field and hang out more (pardon the pun!)
